Can one desire too much of a good thing?




Training Speeches

For the Suzuki Actor Training and Frank Theatre Actor KnowHow we use two speeches to work on combining voice and body. The speeches are used often in the training, so having them memorised before the session is a great idea. The speeches are often used interchangeably throughout the session.

From the Trojan Women:

O splendour of sunburst breaking forth this day
Whereon I lay my hands once more on Helen my wife
And yet it is not so much for the woman's sake I came to Troy
But against that guest proved treacherous
Who like a robber carried the woman from my house.




And from Macbeth:

Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow,
Creeps in this petty pace from day to day,
To the last syllable of recorded time;
And all our yesterdays have lighted fools
The way to dusty death.Out! Out! Brief candle!
Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
